Ilumnia LEMS driver

Ilumnia LEMS driver

The developers of the Ilumnia LEMS driver wanted to surpass the best loudspeakers in the world with an ultra-fast driver that was distortion-free and maximally linear and without compression.

The goal was to get 100% of the energy of the amplifier signal (musical signal) directly and only at the cone. In such a way that even the smallest signal is translated into a movement of the cone (micro detail) and with a fast transient response of large signals (macro dynamics).

The result was the LEMS (Linear Excursion Motor System) free-hanging cone driver. So without spider and surround – parts that cause slowness, distortion and non-linearity in traditional cone speakers. The cone itself could also be kept ultra-light for even better signal transfer and speed.

Due to the placement of the LEMS driver with a tilt of 9 degrees (with Ilumnia Vocalis 13 degrees), the disadvantages of round radiators are overcome and there is no smearing due to reflections from walls and the placement remains perfect.
